1940s Filipina Pin-up Illustration

$15.00

I had been wanting to work on this personal illustration of my Lola for the longest time and finally had a chance to do so. The photo you see here is of Lola in her 20s taken during the 1940s. It’s amazing to see this, knowing she was once a vibrant young woman living life to the fullest. She was an amazing and beautiful human being till the end. We love and miss you so much, Lola!

Because the image was taken in the 40s, I wanted to give the illustration a pin-up look. Sexy but classy. And of course, keeping her Filipiana outfit with an added modern flare. My aunt suggested that I put some Bakya sandals on the ladies, which was a great idea, only I added higher heels.

In this scene, I imagine men were trying to catch their attention as she and her friends passed by. But they walk on with smiles because fun and friendships were the most important things they enjoyed at that moment.
